United States-based Hitachi Vantara has recently acquired another US-based startup Waterline Datato incorporate a new automated data management. Hitachi Vanata is a subsidiary of Japanese giant Hitachi headquartered in Santa Clara.
While speaking on this occasion, Lothar Schubert, Head of Product Marketing, Hitachi Vantara, said, “With this acquisition, the unique data cataloging technology of Waterline Data will be combined with the data operations technologies of Hitachi Vantara in order to automate data management across all of a business' data sets.”
Waterline Data has established its own intellectual property, called “Data Fingerprinting” that assists in data automation, discovery, and classification. Waterline Data will add strong and diverse capabilities in data cataloging, especially to the Lumada and Pentaho platforms of Hitachi Vantara.
Waterline Data to Help Hitachi Vantara Meet Growing Product & Service Demand
Addition of Waterline Data will enhance the Hitachi Vantara’s ability to meet the growing demand for products as well as services that provide automated approaches to data management through data operations.
Schubert further added, “Waterline Data is a startup, however the company, at present, has products and an existing customer base. Therefore, it's a proven technology already. The company offers common metadata for our Lumada portfolio and expands and sets our data operations apart.” He also proposed that clients tend to be heterogeneous in their data technology. It is required for them to connect across a heterogeneous infrastructure.
Hitachi Vantara is planning to make the technology of Waterline Data available as a stand-alone offering and work on integrating the technology into its Pentaho and Lumada platforms. The company plans to leave no customer behind.
Financial Terms of the Acquisition not yet Revealed
As per sources, financial terms of the deal and details pertaining to Waterline Data are not yet disclosed. The completion of the acquisition is likely to take place in the fourth quarter of Hitachi’s fiscal year 2019, i.e. ending March 31, 2020, depending on the customary conditions.
