Multiple Factories have been Operating despite Corona Virus Outbreak


Numerous tech firms of China have still continued operations to produce products and parts regardless of various calls from the Government to halt work so that the spread of coronavirus can be controlled.

On Monday, Huawei Technologies Co Ltd said that the operations were running as usual and it had resumed production of goods including carrier equipment and consumer devices.

In spite of Beijing’s call to suspend all work in numerous cities and provinces, the company restarted its manufacturing sector with special exemption that allowed few critical industries to operate. This development happened after the Lunar New Year holiday.

The spokesperson said that majority of the production took place in Dongguan, a city situated in the southern province of Guangdong.

Other companies have also continued manufacturing operations, in some cases even through the New Year.

Yangtze Memory Technologies Co Ltd. is a maker of flash memory chip in Wuhan backed by state confirmed that it had not ceased its production despite being in the city of virus outbreak.

A company spokesperson said that the production and operations at YMTC are currently proceeding normally and in order. He added that no employee has yet been confirmed of any case of infection, meanwhile the company had also under taken certain isolation measures to safeguard the health of employees.

Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp had also decided to keep the operations running during the holiday break. The company said in a post that factory production of SMIC needs to operate 365 days a year and 24 hours a day to meet the demands of customers.

Samsung Electronics have not witnessed a production disturbance either at its chip factory in Xian regardless of the coronavirus outbreak.
